My Story

Lehlohonolo Peega is an award-winning composer, artistic director, cultural strategist, and policy specialist working at the intersection of art, institutions, and continental cultural development.
​
With more than a decade of experience across Africa and internationally, he has led major cultural programmes, festivals, and productions that bring together artistic excellence, strategic vision, and institutional impact. He currently serves as Festival Director of FESTAC Africa, one of the continent’s longest-running cultural festivals, leading programming and partnerships across multiple international editions.
​
As a composer and producer, Peega has contributed to major global productions, including work with Grammy-winning producer Lebo M on projects connected to the Hollywood film The Woman King. His work spans film, theatre, festivals, and large-scale cultural initiatives.
​
He also advises cultural institutions, festivals, and governments across Africa on artistic programming, strategy, and cultural policy. His contributions to the sector have been recognised by the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences and he was named among the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans and Inside Education’s 100 Shining Stars.
Peega regularly serves as an adjudicator for major industry awards including the South African Music Awards, Naledi Theatre Awards, and South African Film and Television Awards.
